Extra January Pack Meeting - Derby Preview (Optional)

Posted on Jan 10 2012 - 7:42pm

Join us this Thursday at 6:30pm at the Father Smith Center to talk about next month's Pinewood Derby.  We will have a test track and cars from previous years.  Past winners will talk about how they made their cars so fast.  You DO NOT need to bring your 2012 car - it is ok if you are not finished with it yet.  This meeting is to share some ideas about what to expect. If you bring a car, please be sure to bring it in a shoe box or something that will protect it while traveling.

Looking for Former Members of Shrewsbury's TROOP 146

Posted on Nov 26 2011 - 8:01am

Were you a member of Shrewsbury's BSA Troop 146 ??  From approximately 1935,  until sometime around 1982, Troop 146 was based at St. Anne's Church in Shrewsbury. Unfortunately the history of the unit ( including Eagle Scout Honor Role, Senior Patrol Leader Roster, Scoutmaster listing, and any troop awards, pictures or scrapbooks) cannot be found.  The troop historian of the current unit at St. Anne's, T227, is attempting to collect historic information about this lost unit.  If you have information regarding this unit and its former memebers, please email historian@shrewsbury227.mytroop.us.  In May of 2012, Troop 227 will celebrate its 30th anniversary and would like to put information about both units on display.

Duty to God -- Scouting Religious Awards Program Information (All Faiths)

Posted on Nov 15 2011 - 8:27pm

How do we get started on these programs?

First, youth members must obtain the specific booklet for their religion. This booklet will contain information on all the lessons and service projects that they will need to complete. Each member needs to have his or her own booklet to document progress. Some religions also provide adult manuals for counselors and mentors. Check with your local council to see if it stocks these booklets in its store, or contact the religious organization directly (addresses and phone numbers are provided on this site).
